If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. I saw that the connector often is the problem, but I took a look at it and I don't see any visual damage.Īs the machine obviously took a hit when I dropped it, I'm guessing there might be some other damage to the machine that makes it not able to access the hard drive. Now I looked up if there were any other parts that might cause the machine not being able to access the hard drive normally. I tried all of the hard drive fixes by using the disk utility tool and such, but this obviously won't work, as the hard drive is not the problem. I took out the HD and tried to access it remotely, thats when I figured out the hard drive is still functional and I was able to boot the machine by connecting the hard drive externally. This made me think the hard drive broke when I dropped the computer, and I opened the machine to see if that was the case. I figured this was because the machine was no longer able to access the hard drive. When I power up the computer I end up with a blinking folder. Now I am not able to boot the Mac normally. So basically I was a fool and managed to drop my Macbook Pro.
